THESE DAYS ... BEWARE OF 'POLITICAL' MINES !

    Monday, 18 January 2010 05:36 PM

This is what was exactly predicted by General SF! The government has put these civilians at risk, by relocating them, without removing all mines. For cheap political gain? Poor civilians!

    Monday, 18 January 2010 07:30 PM

People must be strongly cautioned to be vigilant about such pressure-mines, all over the area, where they are resettling now!

    Monday, 18 January 2010 10:20 PM

The term "Jony Mine" is deliberately used in this news item. In fact, it is a pressure-mine or 'booby trap,' which was used by both parties, during the war.

WHY WAS PEOPLE RELOCATED WITHOUT REMOVING THIS ?????

    Tuesday, 19 January 2010 02:21 AM

Those who cultivate this suffer in near future with karmic reaction

    Tuesday, 19 January 2010 02:42 AM

when relocation was taking time, they yell asking what the govt is doing without relocating. When they go ahead, clear things out as much as possible and resettle them, again they yell saying that the area is not secure. So, what's the point of asking to rush resettlement. Most of the guys who yell have no clue of how thorny these processes are. This is insane! why can't our people look at both sides of a story and see things through?

This is what was exactly predicted by MR! The pathetic opposition has put these civilians at risk, by insisting to relocating them, without removing all mines. For cheap political gain? Poor civilians!

    Tuesday, 19 January 2010 04:19 AM

the "international community" and "tamil diaspora" who forced the govt for speedy yet reckless resettlement should be asked to pay compensation for victims and should be reported to the UN HR tribunal for denying the right of life and safety to the IDP's

    Tuesday, 19 January 2010 04:23 AM

Hey wasnt it SF who wanted the IDPs resettled as soon as possible? this was exactly why the GVT was taking there time to resettel them because they had to ensure all the mines were demined before letting the civilians go. so who pushed gvt for cheap politcal gains? SF and the UNP and the TNA.

    Tuesday, 19 January 2010 08:05 AM

The GOSL has justified in delaying the resettlement of refugees. It's the reckless diaspora &IC & NGOs who were unconcerned for the civillians.

Fortunate, there is only a single victim upto now.
GOSL are engaged in a ardous job but slowly getting there.

These mines have to be cleared to put these lands into use and people to freely cultivate OR else, it could be another Cambodia.
