Ceylon Continental will be hosting two sensational events to usher in the New Year - Continental Flight 2011 at the Sapphire Ballroom and the exclusive Hush! at the Hotel’s rooftop Cat’s Eye ballroom.

This New Year’s Eve, guests will ring in 2011 in style and dance the night away at the Continental Flight 2011 Dinner Dance. The dazzling affair includes a complete transformation of the venue, where intricate and glistening décor complements the unique menu on offer. True to its title, the grand finale of the year will represent all seven continents to take guests on an epicurean journey around the world. A gala dinner and breakfast will be held in the midst of a complete band experience provided by Doctor and Kings.

Both “Kings with Chandralal” and “Doctor” have reached the zenith of popularity in Colombo. Kings, a leading band that has gained its popularity through dinner dances, has performed at over 26 dinner dances for this year alone. The band’s repertoire will appeal to fans of English and Sinhala favourites from the 70’s to contemporary times. Doctor is a five piece band led by the mainstream pop artiste Lanthra Perera, son of the bass guitarist of the legendary Gypsies. Their vast selection of music on the night will include pop, disco, oldies and baila tracks.

The exclusive 31st night production will take place in Continental’s highest ballroom, the Cat’s Eye. The venue promises intimacy and style, in addition to the incomparably breathtaking view of the city skyline and ocean.

The exclusive finale event named Hush! includes a dual set menu and buffet dinner concept limited to just 60 couples. The event also includes the breakfast on the 1st of January. The feast will showcase the Chef’s finest creations, great table deals on liquor and a midnight toast on the house.

The elevation and glass fronted venue will make Hush! the preeminent New Year’s choice for couples to enjoy the lit-up skyline, tranquil ocean and coastal area, and for one night only, an unrivalled firework display that will surround the Hotel from every direction. “At midnight, all couples present will be ten floors high, in the epicentre of a breathtakingly colourful experience, unique to the country – it will be an unforgettable and picturesque experience,” Harsha Samaranayake, Director Sales and Marketing stated.

Versatile female vocalist Sonali will perform at the event along with Ranil Rodrigo as  Sonali & Champagne. The night’s entertainment will also include a belly dance act, and nonstop music from Eugene, flown in from Australia, who will play a selection of 70’s and 80’s classics until dawn.

Each event will host exciting prizes and entertainment including raffle draws with airline tickets to be won, Continental Flight is sponsored by Oman Air and the Qatar Airways will be the Airline partner of the Exclusive Hush.  Bulk purchase benefits and special discounts are also available to groups and parties that book early.

The twin event production stamps a finale on a year that brought revitalization and energy to Ceylon Continental Hotel. Through an assortment of unique and imaginative events that have taken place during the nine months of ownership and management by the Hayleys Group, Continental has gradually regained its place in Colombo’s spotlight.
