The stock of 1.5 million AHINI vaccines donated by the World Health Organization (WHO) has being used to immunize 8% of the population and the last 50,000 vaccines of the stock will have to be used before Friday, the expiry date, a Health Ministry spokesman said

“We targeted the members of the risk groups such as expectant mothers, patients with chronic diseases, armed forces personnel and health employees for vaccination. We expect to use the remaining stock in the next few days to immunize those who need priority,” the spokesman added.

He added that the health ministry will give vaccinations to Parliamentarians from tomorrow. The Parliamentary staff was vaccinated last month.

Meanwhile, acting director of the Government Epidemiology Unit (GEU) Dr. Hasitha Peiris said new stock of A-H1N1 vaccines was not necessary as the entire risk group has been. (Sandun.A. Jayasekera)

Efficiency of public service at its best. These people really need more salary increments.

Not about efficiency. But the ignorance about the public. Anyway, they are made not for long time. Any vaccine has short expire time.

If the expiry is on Friday, will it be effective now? I wonder!
