A 21-year-old undergraduate, who is a son of a High Court Judge, had been allegedly assaulted by a group of second-year university students for voicing against ragging.

The student, who is an Arts Faculty undergraduate of the Peradeniya University, had been assaulted by eight students near the Post Graduate Institute.

He was admitted to the Peradeniya Hospital. The Police said they were yet to arrest the suspects. (J.A.L. Jayasinghe)

Not enough - suspend for three years or even expel as not fit for university educaion.

Laws against ragging should be strictly enforced by the university authorities and police etc, without leaving it to undergraduates to cope with . This will ensure that those who want to learn could engage in their studies without fear and harassment.

KICK THEM OUT Wednesday, 18 January 2017 11:00 PM

Don't delay - put tghe CID and arrest them. File a case - once convicted - kick them out. If other students protest - charge them for contempt of court , and imprison all the protesters. A good lesson is long overdue. Government Ministers please do not interfere.

Justice should be served .... ON A SILVER PALATE .... Nobody has the right to physically abuse a child who is as brave as he has been .... Many children are suffocating because of their meaningless "rules and regulations"....
