US, (dpa), 26Jan - Sometimes, after a stressful day, there’s nothing better than sipping on a beer and throwing axes at the wall. Or at least that’s what one facility in the US state of North Carolina is banking on.
A husband-and-wife team opened the southern region’s first indoor facility for axe-throwing, called Lumberjaxe, late last year and promise on their website that the risky-sounding activity is “no more dangerous than hurling a 12-pound bowling ball, throwing a sharp dart or standing in a batting cage while baseballs fly at your face.”
The facility, which caters to parties as well as curious individuals alike, provides the axe and throwing lane starting at 20 dollars per person an hour. The owners promise that anyone can learn to throw.
For customers who discover they have a knack for hurling axes, Lumberjaxe is part of a federation that allows league members to compete against 20 organizations across five different countries.
While the concept of Lumberjaxe is new for the city of Charlotte, axe- throwing bars have become increasingly popular in the US.
