All UNP MPs have signed a motion expressing confidence in Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, party sources said today.
They said they had signed the document when they met at the parliamentary complex this morning under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister.
Sources said the UNP MPs had vowed to defeat the motion. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwadana)

What a nonsensical act!
Sunil Thursday, 22 March 2018 03:44 PM
These guys have acted against their conscience and are unaware of the hopes and aspirations of the people.

I think this was the plan of JO/Ranil all along. After voting for Ranil in the parliament UNP members have no ethical right to ask Ranil to step down. That means its Ranil's common candidate vs Gota in 2020.

Parliament is supreme and what counts is how they will express confidence at boring stage of the no confidence motion
Piyasoma Thursday, 22 March 2018 03:58 PM
Ha..haaa. mortally scared of the defectors the UNP has a done a clever thing.
Dompe Manike Thursday, 22 March 2018 03:59 PM
Good move before it became a Divided National Party(DNP).

PM can win these sort of mini elections but when it comes to the people voting he is a total flop and will never win
Dhammika Thursday, 22 March 2018 05:25 PM
What CONFIDENCE do all of you have in RW ? .
Upul Thursday, 22 March 2018 05:26 PM
This shows how RW controls his people under him. Very nice display of DEMOCRACY by our PM.
Gamaya Thursday, 22 March 2018 05:44 PM
Oh Ranil! Whenever can you keep your own flock together?
Sincere Thursday, 22 March 2018 05:49 PM
Whether Ranil is suitable or not must be looked into within the party itself and not by outsiders.
Peter van Dyke Thursday, 22 March 2018 06:15 PM
UNP MPs, please take the copy of this signed document and change its heading to "We have no confidence in you as the leader of our party any longer and therefore please vacate the post with immediate effect".
Sara Thursday, 22 March 2018 06:21 PM
Does it mean that they will be bound by same motion to vote against the NCM? What if they start Loos Motions on the day of voting?
Labby Thursday, 22 March 2018 06:46 PM
Well done. Great show of solidarity.
Park Thursday, 22 March 2018 07:03 PM
UNP should form its own government with 30 ministers. Teach SLFP a good lesson.
TJ Thursday, 22 March 2018 07:07 PM
Well done. It is up to the UNP to change the leadership. Not to the JO. They are in the opposition, because the people didn't have confidence on them.
Manu Thursday, 22 March 2018 08:14 PM
Except RW others in UNP others are not educated, not capable and don't have the qualification to be the leader of UNP or PM.
