The reports coming from all over the world reveal that both the LTTE and the government forces had committed war crimes, TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran said today.

He told Parliament that no one says only one side committed such crimes. “I will be under fire from my community for saying this,” he said.

The MP said an impartial investigation was needed because Sri Lankan government could not be involved in it on the basis that it was a party to the conflict.

“You get foreign umpires for cricket matches played in Sri Lanka because the party involved in the game cannot be involved in being a judge in the match,” he said. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwadrana)

This the way to go. Tamil community wants to portray LTTE as saint though they knew the atrocities they committed.

Well, it took you only about 10 years since the war ended to figure that out. Human rights of the GOSL only mattered to you when the LTTE started losing. You defended criminals that took 300,000 of your own people hostage. You also should go to jail along with GOSL criminals.

If not for the tamils Sighalse would have lost democracy and would have been subjected to dictatorship and would have lost the apple to Chinese similarly if not for Singhlese the Tamils also would have lost their independence to unworthy politics. We need to be united as equal citizens.

Big deal! as the LTTE proper is no more but the 'wannabe LTTE' still rake the past dirt. So much for his admission. Typical lawyers' sham. A 'boot' is what is required here. MM

You moron why can’t you appreciate a Tamil politician admitting to the war crimes committed by the Tigers. Can a Sinhalese leader openly admit to Army atrocities ? No.
