Taniya & Kayla leading in the Girls’ category at ONE UNDER PAR
Vinod Leads Boys’ Gold - Duwarshan Leads Boys’ Silver – Shanal Binuksha Boys’ Bronze Leader – Kaya Daluwatte Leads Boys’ Copper Division after Round 1
The Sri Lanka Junior Golf Championship 2017, Sponsored by Prima Sunrise Bread, got off to a great start with Taniya Minel Balasuriya & Kayla Perera locked together as Joint Leaders in the Girls Gold & Silver Age Categories returning One Under Scores of 71 in the Par 72 RCGC Ladies Score Card. 15-year-old Taniya and 14-year-old Kayla did the Girls proud by shooting an excellent sub-par opening round to gain the best scores returned in Round 1 of the PRIMA SUNRISE Junior Golf Championship.
Vinod Weerasinghe with a splurge of Six Birdies returned a 2 over par 73 to lead the Boys in the Gold Division. Three strokes ahead of Darren Hall.
Duwarshan from Nuwara Eliya leads the Boys’ Silver Division with 82, by one stroke from T. Vkash. In the Bronze Division played over 14 Holes, 10 year old ShanalBinushka held a clear six stroke lead over M. Lidurshan of NEGC , with a 14 Hole 64, eight over par.
Kaya Daluwatte led the Cooper Division played over Nine Holesfor Age Group Category 09 years & under with a 42, one stroke ahead of KvahnTejwani.
The Junior Golf Championship is played over 03 Days, 54 Holes for Gold & Silver Categories, whilst Bronze Division is over 42 holes and Copper Division is conducted through 27 Holes. The 2nd Round commences Thursday morning and the Final Round will conclude the Championship on Friday morning followed by the Prize Giving at the Royal Colombo Golf Club.
