Military personnel were on standby to provide assistance to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to carry out operations, Military Spokesman Roshan Seneviratne said today.

He said the military would do so only in case the CEB made such a request.

Maj. Gen. Seneviratne said a special team comprising security forces personnel have been on standby since the launch of the CEB strike.

The members of the CEB Workers Union are on a countrywide strike from September 13 over several demands and had warned they would not attend to breakdowns, except at hospitals. (Darshana Sanjeewa)

Mr. Tharindu, it is the part of their duty to assist in the caswe of emergency. But they have no right to abduct and kill civilians.

Mahinda thinks he could topple the govt. with his bunch of rotters who strikes, never putha.... finally he will cut his own pit again.

    Ramond Leelaratne (attorney-at-law) Monday, 18 September 2017 09:33 AM

Without showing any mercy, the govt. should arrest few main strikers and keep them behind bars, then automatically the strikes will come to an end.

Maybe they are striking because they have too much Salary
