Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Harsha De Silva a short while ago told the 34th session of the UNHRC that Sri Lanka will be co-sponsoring a Resolution with the United States and the other main co-sponsors of previous resolution (30/1) on the country for a two-year extension of the timeline for fulfilment of commitments made in Resolution 30/1.
He said Sri Lanka thank the UNHR Council, the UN, and bilateral partners for their support to strengthen reconciliation in Sri Lanka, and for this extension of the timeline.
The resolution was co-sponsored by Sri Lanka with United States and the other main co-sponsors UK, Macedonia and Montenegro.

Granting extension is not to buy time but to deliver the justice and build the reconciliation which was denied and rejected .However ,the all parties that are involved should get into find the truth as to what happened to those surrendered themselves at the request of the then government ,in an honest impartial manner .

i think its fair enough to ask for a transparent body to see if our forces have committed... which i believe they have cause if not why the big deal in being transparent on war crimes

Whether it is hybrid court or not, the system needs to be honest, transparent and independent from interferences of the armed forces and politicians. The need is for proper justice according to the Dhamma.

Their is nothing wrong in allowing foreign judges in to the system of investigation if we are true Buddhists, honest in this activity. Only cowards and dishonest rascals are worried about the structure of an investigation and want their own people to investigate.
Lord Wolfstein Thursday, 23 March 2017 09:32 AM
If the war criminals are not punished soon there will be no reconciliation and it will inevitably come to a new armed conflict. It must be finally accepted that there are very few war heroes in this country, but many deserters, cowards, and war criminals. Time is running out.

Changing constitution is a recent charade by some politicians to accommodate hybrid system to adjust the hardliners .Some commentators parroting the version of somebody as parrots .That is all.
