The issue of former Defence Attaché Brigadier Priyankara Fernando was raised by MP Hywel Williams in the British Parliament on Wednesday.

The MP asked Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific Mark Field what discussions he has had with Sri Lankan Foreign Affairs Minister since the return of the Defence Attaché of Sri Lankan High Commission in London.

State Minister Field said he met Minister Tilak Marapana on April 18 on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Summit and raised the Defence Attaché incident with him.

“The former Defence Attaché's posting to London was formally ended by the Government of Sri Lanka on April 15. No successor has yet been appointed,” he said.

Brigadier Fernando was the Defence Attaché of the Sri Lankan High Commission in London. He was summoned to Sri Lanka over the incident where he showed a throat-cut gesture towards a group of protesting LTTE supporters in London.

The LTTE is a banned Terrorist Organization that killed thousands of innocent People of all Communities. Hence his action was not wrong.

This is an example where the action of a thug with absolutely no discipline can bring utmost disgrace to a countries Armed Forces.

In this case a protestNot the Neck but the protest activity. anybody with common sense can figure it out ,although he was penalized and sent home.stupidity in the part of the reporters totally biased to cut the sergeant in arms at the srilankan High Commission.

Could ISIS protest outside the Israeli Embassey in London on their National Day? This is called British Hypocrisy. We are bullied because we are a poor nation, no oil and no guts and our rogue politicians.

MP Hywel Williams should use the British taxpayers money and time to do something useful to UK citizens than wasting time on things that is of no concern to him or the British public.

People should understand that wherever we go, even if we go to another planet we go with the name called SRILANKA, all our words we speak , our behavior and thoughts go under that name .So i guess its better not to put out your behavior inside the country to the outside world.

Gummay Baiya Friday, 25 May 2018 09:43 PM

Had our boys and girls not paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives, we would still be fighting a civil war. But what this officer did was disgraceful and a dishonour to our military, uniform and his own credibility.
