This is the legacy left behind by the previous regime. Excessive borrowing from China and exorbitant repayment installments, lead to such messy situation. Still the masses are happy with the highways, idle airport and the leased out port.

let us see the free loading professionals are getting big rupee salaries without contributing anything to the economy. For instance we had medical education for more than 60 years. Not a single industry related to healthcare. And these professionals want to live like professionals in developed countries. So it is up to housemaids to bring in the dollars to maintain their lifestyle.

Sri Lanka has become a garbage dump of Low quality imports. Funds to be released only if importer is registered taxpayer. This effects legitimate manufacturers and exporters as well. Though we got GSP from EU and USA cost of raw materials are going up and in turn our exports will be high in price.
