UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe today said they are ready to hold both Presidential and General Elections in a democratic and legal manner after having talks with all political parties.

Addressing the UNP rally held at the Lipton Circus, Colombo 07, Mr. Wickremesinghe said they are also ready to show the majority in parliament yet again if President Maithripala Sirisena doesn’t accept Speaker’s letter.

Fantastic news. But please do not allow MS to resign, and evade the process of impeachment. Should the rule of law prevail then he must be put the due process for his recklessness in office and total disregard for the Constitution. This is the only send off he deserves for his actions over the past few weeks.

Why are the general elections needed when there is parlimentary majority available? Why do you drag the people into unnecessary inconvenience of the blunder created one man who was elected to correct the wrongs and help the people live comfortably ? What has made you to suggest elections when the present illegal government will use government machinery and infrastructure in their favour to capture the power . So no elections are needed .
