Mother, daughter killed in accident in Nugawela

A 24-year- old mother and her two year-old daughter were killed after a private bus ran over their motorcycle in Nugawela today.

A father, mother and daughter were injured following the accident and the mother and daughter succumbed to their injuries after the duo were admitted to the Thiththapajjala hospital.

The bus traveling from Katugasthota to Kurunegala had run over them when they fell off their motorcycle after colliding with another motorcycle which was traveling ahead of them.

The victims have been identified as residents of Ambanpola.

The driver of the bus has been arrested by the Police in connection with the incident. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

My condolences to the bereaved father. Appears that the cause of the accident as been ascertained, why arrest the bus driver ? Some of these new riders are really irresponsible and break every imaginable law and rule, considering the age of the minor child it presumed that there was no helmet and or safety for measures adopted, very irresponsible.

My deepest condolences.. May their souls rest in peace!We all as Sri Lanka's should be feeling guilty of these ongoing menace and powerless to do anything about it. They are our innocent babies, children and our people getting killed on roads.. We still continue to turn a blind eye!

@Private Bus owners association! what actions are you going to take against your killer drivers (maga maruwo) and to avoid such unfortunate incidents in future??? This is a very serious on going matter and our lives are at risk!!! Authorities wake up and do something about it before these murderers kill more innocent people!
