Mathews to lead Board XI against South Africa

Angelo Mathews will lead Board XI team against South Africa in the two-day warm-up match which will be played at the P Sara Oval starting on Saturday (July 7).

The team also includes national players in Dhananjaya de Silva, Kaushal Silva, Roshen Silva, Danushka Gunathilaka, Malinda Pushpakumara and Shehan Jayasuriya. 

Mathews was part of the Sri Lanka squad for the recent West Indies tour but returned home at the end of the first Test due to the birth of his second child. 

De Silva missed the opening test due to his father's death but joined the squad in time for the second Test. Kaushal Silva on the other hand has been out of selector's radar for a while and this is a golden opportunity for former Sri Lanka opener to prove his worth to the selectors. 

Thew first of the two-Test match series will begin on July 12 in Galle. The Test series will be followed by five-match ODI and a one-off T20 match.
