The Commonwealth leaders have agreed the appointment of Prince of Wales Charles as the next head of the Commonwealth, the BBC reported a short while ago.

Queen Elizabeth II had said it was her "sincere wish" that Prince Charles would succeed her in the role "one day".

Leaders of the Commonwealth have been discussing the issue at a meeting behind closed doors at Windsor Castle.

The non-hereditary role would not have automatically passed to Prince Charles, with some suggestions it might rotate among the 53 leaders.

Prime Minister Theresa May and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau had earlier given their backing to Prince Charles.

The meeting during a two-day summit involved 46 heads of Commonwealth governments and foreign ministers from the remaining seven countries.

Commonwealth started by Britain in 1949 A’s a club for its former and soon to be former colonies is a continuation of Britain remaining as a superior master among primarily brown and black countries. Some member states wanted its leadership to be passed on to a member country after the Queen’s leadership ends in future. But just 24 hours before the election, of the new leader, the Queen made a public statement asking member countries to appoint her elder son Prince Charles as its future leader. Now just it is announced that Prince Charles had been selected to serve as the next leader after the Queen. The fools who imagined that commonwealth is a democratic organisation and Britain is no longer the master of browns and blacks are left in London with humiliation.

Hello, the one who lives in London while despising it: If they wished, the Heads of State could have appointed someone else. No one forced them to select Prince Charles. (If they did not select him, how can they be visiting the Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle again?) Just look at Sri Lanka where the President was/is trying to kick out the Prime Minister who helped him become President!

You should show more respect and gratitude to England, which has welcomed you and your family. You live in and benefit from London where people from all over the world live together peacefully and without discrimination, which does not even exist in Sri Lanka. Each Member State of the Commonwealth profits from this union initiated by England. Since it is justified that the Queen proposes the heir to the throne as her successor and that he is elected in a free election in this ceremonial office.

I hope one day Sri Lanka would have a great proud leader who would take Sri Lanka out of this shameful “Colonial” club. Two thousand years ago when the Buddhist Sinhalese and the Hindu Tamils were having great civilisations, the English race and the English language didn’t even exist on this planet.

    Gamaya Friday, 20 April 2018 09:54 PM

Nothing dear Rasa. Dont forget Sri Lanka was the chair of NAM - much larger than the submissive C W.

Colonial master finding it difficult to let go.

The Commonwealth is an useless old boys club. Time to quit.

    Sincere Saturday, 21 April 2018 11:41 AM

The story tells what the so called Commonwealth can achieve now! Its utter waste of money and time!

The slave mentality is still alive and well, not only in Sri Lanka, but in other Commonwealth countries too. .
