Corporate leader Ishara Nanayakkara has upped his direct holding in Browns Investments PLC, the strategic investment vehicle of Browns and LOLC groups, Nanayakkara’s broker, LOLC Securities, informed the Colombo bourse yesterday.
On Aprl 12, Nanayakkara acquired 370 million shares of Browns Investments, paying Rs.1.50 per share, in a crossing worth Rs.555 million. The acquisition was carried out through Oxford Capital (Pvt) Ltd., of which Nanayakkara was the sole director and shareholder.
Prior to the deal, Nanayakkara had a direct holding of 40 million shares of Browns Investments and they amounted to 1.08 percent of the total issues share capital of
the company.
Subsequent to the April 12 transaction, Nanayakkara now holds 410 million shares of Browns Investments PLC, which amounts to 11.02 percent of the
issued shares.
Browns Investments has interests in a number of fast-growing sectors including leisure & entertainment, plantation and agri business, renewable energy, construction and real estate.
Nanayakkara is the Executive Chairman of Browns Investment, Brown & Company PLC and Deputy Chairman of Lanka Orix Leasing Company PLC.
