International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka to hold 51st AGM this week

The International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) which celebrates its 62 years anniversary this year will hold its 51st Annual General Meeting and the anniversary celebrations at the Hotel Galadari, Colombo on September 29.  


Heinz Walker-Nederkoorn, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Sri Lanka and The Maldives will grace the event as the Chief Guest while Una McCauley, the UN Resident Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Sri Lanka will attend the Annual General Meeting as the Guest of Honour. 


Presidential Secretary Austin Fernando will also grace the AGM as a guest of honour and the Anniversary celebrations which will be held at the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Galadari.
This year, the five-time Chairman of the ICCSL Keerthi Gunawardane will step down as the Chairman. Dinesh Weerakkody will take over the reigns of the esteemed organisation this year as the new Chairman. 


Weerakkody, an alumnus of the University of Leicester United Kingdom, is an Advisor to the National Policies and Economic Affairs Ministry and also the Chairman of the National Human Resource Development Council of Sri Lanka. Previously, he held positions in the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, DFCC Bank and GlaxoSmithKline Sri Lanka.


The ICCSL is the domestic chapter of Paris based international world business organization, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). It is also the local chapter of the ICC which holds the sole authority to issue ATA Carnet.


The international organisation has, over the years, expanded its roots in 130 countries with a membership drive of over 6.5 million. Trade facilitation, export and import and cross border issues pertaining to goods transport are some of the areas addressed by the ICC.
