IPM Sri Lanka – the nation’s leader in human resource management, achieved the pinnacle of excellence when it was crowned as the winner at National Business Excellence Awards (NBEA) 2017 in the educational services sector at a glittering awards ceremony held at The Hilton Colombo recently.
The NBEA is recognized as Sri Lanka’s most prestigious corporate awards.
The NBEA, which is organised annually by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), recognizes business enterprises that have demonstrated excellence in business whilst contributing to the socio-economic progress of the nation. With the introduction of the new evaluation scheme and criteria, many corporate establishments stepped forward to compete in the NBEA this year and NBEA 2017 is the 14th consecutive year of the NBEA.
Companies were evaluated under the newly structured evaluation model covering seven organisational perspectives which included excellence in leadership, excellence in corporate governance, excellence in capacity building, excellence in performance management, excellence in local and global market reach, excellence in corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability and excellence in business and financial results.
IPM Sri Lanka’s initiative at the NBEA was spearheaded by IPM Sri Lanka Manager Quality Assurance Ruwani Senevirathne, who was supported by the heads of departments and staff members of IPM. IPM Sri Lanka Chief Operating Officer P.G. Tennakoon provided valuable advice and guidance for the preparation of the IPM Sri Lanka Business Excellence Report, which was submitted for evaluation by the NCCSL.
“This is a remarkable achievement and it clearly signifies IPM’s exceptional performance, dynamism and excellence in corporate Sri Lanka. We are pleased that IPM Sri Lanka has been ranked number one and I believe our rank confirms the success of our efforts in ensuring continuous improvement, unwavering professionalism and commitment to quality,” said Tennakoon.
“We are thankful to the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka for organising this competition to recognize business enterprises and for the strategic direction from the President and Governing Executive Council of IPM Sri Lanka,” he added.
“We are delighted with the National Business Excellence Award that we received at NBEA 2017. This is the first time in history that IPM Sri Lanka has applied for this prestigious competition. We have achieved a great milestone in becoming the first HR educational institute and professional body to win this award in the educational services sector. It symbolizes our continuing commitment to uphold the highest standards of excellence across all of our operations,” said Senevirathne.
“Winning the award has confirmed IPM Sri Lanka’s commitment to uphold the highest standards of excellence and the award brings quality and continuous improvement into the heart of our organisation and ensures that excellence is integrated and aligned with our business strategies,” she added.
