A 30-year-old man was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning while attempting to smuggle gold worth Rs.2.4 million to Bangalore.
The Customs said the gold tablets each weighing 400 grams were wrapped in carbon paper and concealed inside his hand luggage.
Following the Customs inquiry, the man who is a resident of Wattala was fined Rs.50,000 and the gold confiscated. (T.K.G. Kapila)
