Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake was invited by the Rotary Club of Colombo West as the Guest Speaker at their luncheon meeting chaired by President Roshan Perera, with Pravir Samarasinghe, Secretary Harsha Rajan and Governor Senaka Amarasinghe at the head table.
The hall was filled to capacity with members and their guests while the Minister delivered a thought provoking speech on international relations.
The dialogue focused on the discussion of current issues, placing special emphasis on the need to step up international efforts in order to improve diplomatic and economic relations through an inclusive dialogue for the sake of restoring the country’s international standing. He also discussed the practical aspects of further strengthening regional cooperation, including maintaining pro-active political dialogue and promoting trade, economic and investment cooperation.
The Rotary luncheon was of special significance as Sri Lanka’s Diva of Opera Kishani Jayasinghe was inducted as a member of the Rotary Club of Colombo West, and she created history by also being awarded the Paul Harris Fellow badge of honour for her generous contribution toward the Rotary Foundation.

Further special contribution was made toward the President of the Rotaract club of University of Moratuwa by Rotarians Saroj Perera, Lakshman De Fonseka, Kishani Jayasinghe, Harsha Malvanna and Anisha Dharmadasa for their great achievement of winning an international award for the Project ‘Grama Probodaya’.
The Minister was introduced by VP1 Pravir Samarasinghe and vote of thanks was delivered by Past President Pradeep Amirthanayagam.
