Diamond - new symbol of UNF

United National Front is reportedly planning to contest the forthcoming election as a broad alliance under a new symbol - Diamond.

The draft report already prepared in this connection is now being studied by the leaders of the UNP, according to the sources.

Senior members of the party are of the view that it is more appropriate to contest the election as an alliance under a new symbol instead of the elephant symbol.

It is also learned that although there are different views about the symbol, majority of the party members have agreed to the Diamond as the new symbol of the alliance. (Dayaseeli Liyanage)

I can understand they can't make out a symbol of bank or bonds but I believe more appropriate if they can use 5000 rupee bill or a dollar note. That's what they are after.

Sajith does not have the maturity and experience to lead the party and government at the moment. He needs more time. just because his father was ready to lead even at the age of forty does not mean his can be the same. Maharajas want Sajith so that they can plunder the way they did during Premadasa- Paskaralingam days.

Very inappropriate symbol. The diamond represents high value where as you fellows don’t even come close to it. A more appropriate symbol would have been the ‘trash’ symbol.

Just change the party leader to Sajith and go with the traditional elephant symbol afterall it is still the grand old party!
