Constable hospitalised due to allege assault by MP Chaminda Wijesiri

A police constable attached to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) has been hospitalised due to an alleged assault by UNP Badulla District MP Chaminda Wijesiri yesterday in Bandarawela.

Police said the constable who was travelling in a jeep of the DIG of the PNB, was assaulted when he overtook the MP’s vehicle in Bandarawela Town. It was reported that the DIG was not in the jeep when the incident happened.

The Constable was admitted to the Bandarawela Hospital following the assault.

No one had been arrested and the Bandarawela Police are investigating the incident.
