Cabinet reshuffle was a joke and the Government had failed to deliver the change expected by the people, State Minister of Foreign Affairs Wasantha Senanayake said today.

He made the remark outside the Presidential Secretariat soon after the new Cabinet Ministers sworn in.

He told journalists that the first part of the comedy produced by the Government was played today and the second part would be played next.

“I don’t know how people will react as to whether they laugh, cry or pelt stones,” he said.

He said he was not disappointed of the action but he thought that the Government had failed to deliver the change expected by the people.

He added that people would not be deceived by such jokes and the changes expected by the people should be done. (Thilanka Kanakarathna)

This is the truth. Leaders do not change right decisions for a fear of others around. It is no point of keeping the same lot for another 2 years if the change has made no difference. There are able ministers in the current government. Give the job, base on the skill and talent and not how one eat

Mr.Vasantha Senanayake, we agree that it was a joke,but don't forget that you are part of that joke. One more thing, you are still young in politics to make a comment about the reshuffle. Please also don't forget that you are the Deputy minister of Foreign affairs today, not because you are qualified enough to hold this position,but because you were the first MP to leave MR government end of 2014. We see how you handle things, which is not up to the mark. Before you criticize your own government, try to mature in politics. This is the only advice we can give you.

Maybe being part of the UNP requires standing firm together. Apart from that collective responsibility is only for the cabinet and mind u even a senior like Wijedasa R erred here. We must however appreciate the genuine intent with which Mr.Senanayake commented with a margin given for his younger age. He has performed quite well so far in his post, certainly better than most senior members. I sincerely hope though that age will not change his attitude and make him the stock trade mark SL politician.

Compared to other most of the politicians, he his qualified on his own right. If you are not sure , you can ask him , what is his qualifications are. Nevertheless, what he says is correct. This is only one episode of a Mega Comedy drama and reflects the thinking of majority of the people.

Even we find it as a joke, at least it took 3 yrs for u 2 know it. A President who fights with his own PM listens to a station brings the country to standstill for 2 weeks then selects a cabinet like musical chairs. No wonder MR wins. Even if MR loots their is a stable Govt. It may be better than jokers.
