Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa today rejected Cabinet Spokesman Rajitha Seneratne's claim that he had requested Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe not to step down from the Premiership.
"It is a deliberate lie; this is another lie of Rajitha. As a senior minister he should now stop uttering these kinds of lies and making irresponsible statements," former President Rajapaksa told the media at the Narahenpita Abhayarama Temple.

The dentist wanted to hang on to power somehow for otherwise he knows that he'll end up in jail for numerous corruptions cases.

These days we see fashion parades where ministers come showing off in their posh vehicles and giving stupid comments to the press not worth a penny. Of course we have to understand that some of them have even not passed grade 8.What a waste of public money. Are they doing any good to their electorate. They are like blood suckers drinking the blood of the people and doing mere nothing.

People are now of the opinion that politicians from top to bottom most of them are liars. Public is totally confused that whom to believe and whom not to. If it continues like this, before long people will not trust any of them.

We left Sri Lanka since we were personally affected by a bomb blast in Colombo our home damaged ! My carter as a doctor took a hit and we had to start life all over again in New Zealand we never wanted to leave Sri Lanka. When the war ended under Mr Rajapakse who had the courage to end it I was in Colombo that day. The country did improve physically under his regime with improvement and major construction projects, approvals for hotels etc. I visit Sri Lanka yearly to see my mother and found that in the last two years the cost of just basic food is very expensive milk and bread at par with Australia and Colombo just dirty with garbage all over, traffic in chaos and congestion, there is no proper public transport like good trains and buses. Sri Kamka can learn from Singapore, Malaysia and India and have proper public transport, have a fee for parking in the city etc . The masses are of the opinion that the governments whichever one is in power is robbing.

Zainab, Can you tell me why do you compare the price of a loaf of Colombo bread to Australia bread if you reside in NZL ? does the bread taste better in AUS ? Sounds like a MR propaganda unit gone short circuited.
