The Supreme Court had ruled that some clauses of the 20th Amendment were inconsistent with the Constitution and therefore, it requires a referendum after gaining two-thirds majority in Parliament, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya told Parliament today.
The 20th Amendment also includes provision to hold elections for all Provincial Councils on the same day.

Yes! Whether its referendum or PC elections, lets slap the govt on their face for various false promises that made before Jan 8, '15 and Aug. '15! And of course for the great CB robbery!

Who is the legal draughtsman who cannot draft properly. UNP lawyers galore but appears with little knowledge of law. What a sad outcome because having elections in one day is beneficial both cost wise and prevents manipulations.

We all know the motive behind this is to postpone elections. If the Govt is really keen on having elections on one day and to uphold democracy they can dissolve all bodies immediately and go for an election

The idea of 20A is to change the electoral method and make it less of a money spending contest

At least the government has to obey the Court Order. Court is supreme to go against court order make too many problems.People must have the right of Vote.
