A brilliant legal mind, renowned for causing ripples while he was a member of the upper Judiciary and even after retirement, for his forthright speeches and  judgments dispensed in the true spirit of law, former Supreme Court Judge C. V. Wigneswaran in a candid interview with Daily Mirror shared his reasons for deciding to enter politics as TNA’s Chief Ministerial candidate and of his views on the contending issues of 13A that has emerged before the decisive Northern election due in September.

hats off to you sir and the TNA crew who elected him.

    Patriot Thursday, 25 July 2013 03:21 PM

Absolutely. Educated he may be but his stance on separatism is unambiguous. Let the NPC elections conclude. We can see which way the wind blows then. Hats of to the TNA for electing a man who is ostensibly fair but he is just another LTTE sympathiser. That much was obvious when he made a speech about the new Chief Justice. We don't need Tigers in sheep's clothing. We need leaders who will put country before self and definitely, he is not one of them. Trust is a two way street. The issues that we face in this country are not exclusively those of the Tamils. We are all in the same boat, especially the poor, irrespective of ethnicity.

    Kamal Thursday, 25 July 2013 11:48 AM

Sir, you can certainly be the bridge between sinhalese and Tamils. We feel proud to have people like you in Sri lankan politics. There will be thousands of Sinhalese patriots like us who will bless you sir. Go ahead and find the solution for this burning issue. Otherwise division is assured if we continue in this manner. We trust you. God bless you sir.
Kamal. ( A Sinhalese and a true Sri lankan.)

    DAVID Monday, 22 July 2013 07:47 AM

AMAZING REPLY IS LIKE A STATESMAN . WE NEED PEOPLE LIKE YOU. YOUR CM POST IS ALREADY ESTABLISHED. ANYWAY GOOD LUCK.

Ane Anichchan Monday, 22 July 2013 03:03 AM

He will be an ideal candidate for majority Tamil diaspora but not for majority population of Sri Lanka.

    NEIL Sunday, 21 July 2013 11:11 AM

    Congratulations Sir
Motherland is required people like your caliber to put into the politics
Otherwise these foolish people are leading the country to the hell
SEE the our progress records on
    rapes
    bribery
    misconduct
    level of public transport
    productivity
    GOOD LUCK SIR!!!!

Even before the elections are held and he is yet to be elected, but in advance he says that he wants more power than what is stipulated in the 13th amendment. Why can't he set out his parameters clear to the country ie. separate airport for north, harbour, para-military force, etc., etc. At this rate only God will knows where he will end up?

    Joseph Friday, 19 July 2013 07:50 AM

I agree with Easwaran. Both Sinhalese and Tamils came to Sri Lanka by Kalla thoni. Poor aborigines veddahs for whom this land belong are keeping silent. Only Tamils living in the hill country were brought by those who ruled us.

    Jumbuli-jumba Friday, 19 July 2013 06:35 AM

W How dare Easwarn call our President Raajapaksa who finished the terrorism in the Sri Lanka, coconut headed? In that case we call Vigneswaran is a Palmyrah or Thosa headed. What is the political experience Vigneswarn has? Has he got a political science degree?

    Easwaran Thursday, 18 July 2013 01:40 PM

Dunheda, you have no sense, you can't even hold a candle to him. get out of your box and try to live in a 21st century .If Tamils have no right it live in Srilanka so you Sinhalese also don't have. because Vijaya came in a kalathoni or putting it in the modern day term is 'boat people. Don't fool your ownself, grow up. 'Mr Vigneswaran would be a better President than your coconut headed Rajapske.

Uncle Johnson Thursday, 18 July 2013 12:54 PM

We fully endorse the views expressed by Dunheda.

Ayesha Arambepola Tuesday, 16 July 2013 05:05 PM

We are proud of you for coming forward as a CM candidates. surely, will be elected by a majority of votes. all three communities will vote for you, be assured of it. Wish you all the best.

    sen Thursday, 18 July 2013 10:52 AM

Very nice comment from a person from majority.

    Dunheda Thursday, 18 July 2013 10:28 AM

Dangerous ,Deadly tiger with white human mask is coming to the game, see his singhala version of speech in derana, He is attacking grate sri lankan army as" out siders" ,he is telling "mahavanse episode " is unacceptable and lie.we need federal status. how can you believe reconciliation with this type of racist guys. funny thing is he is living in Colombo lavish life with all facility's and study in royal collage with free education climb up to the highest level in government sector job.Now telling Tamils haven't any rights in sri lanka.Other funny thing is his son married to minister vasudaves daughter.is she also" outsider"?
This man haven't any experience of poor pepole.no knowledge of smell off the sweat.if he select then "good bless" for Tamil people in sri lanka.i hope this type of racist should not come to the politic.

    JAGATH Thursday, 18 July 2013 09:35 AM

GOOD MOVE BY THE TNA , THIS COUNTRY NEED SMART PEOPLE TO RUN , SIR WE WISH YOU ALL THE BEST , PROVE ,WE WILL VOTE YOU ONE DAY TO RUN NOT ONLY NORTHERN PART whole SRI LANKA , example to southern corrupted politicians

    Kumara Wednesday, 17 July 2013 03:40 PM

He looks more educated than most of the politicians we have today.

    Ani Wednesday, 17 July 2013 11:18 AM

Future common presidential candidate in the making!

    Raj Wednesday, 17 July 2013 05:45 AM

Politicians of the country play fool with the people, political culture in the country is getting worse day by day. people and their desires are completely ignored. Parliament is just a joke, look at how they behave and response to questions. very bad. feel very sorry about people. no matter whether is in south or north. pls take this as a chance to initiate good political culture in the country.
    wish good luck sir!

    Observer Tuesday, 16 July 2013 06:13 PM

We need people of this caliber to lead the country!

    nalin Tuesday, 16 July 2013 05:56 PM

No matter what your political affiliations are, most of us will agree this is a breath of fresh air to Sri Lankan politics where thugs like Mervin and cardboard patriots like Weerawasa roam freely.

    sangaralingham Tuesday, 16 July 2013 05:15 PM

his experience and his past justifies him being a chief minister but hemust able to do the best for the society he represent.
