Sri Lanka tourism arrivals in February 2015, has been powered by China with a strong performance of  27,425 visitor arrivals making it the top destination with the cumulative performance up 85 percent as against last year in the first two months of 2015.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Tourism Pavillion at the key Asian travel and tourism event Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF) 2015 yesterday won the ‘ Best country Pavilion’. “This indicates the focussed strategies that Sri Lanka is adopting on a strong private-public partnership drive, said Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Chairman Rohantha Athukorala.
“With the increased connectivity of Air China operating the market and the proposed charter that will also come to play in the near future, this destination has a lot of potential to drive growth but what we are now focussing is to increase the quality of our traveller given the global boom of the new young and affluent Chinese wanting to see the world.”
