Sri Lanka at IBTM after 10 years

Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) together with 8 industry DMCs are currently taking part at the IBTM MICE ( Meetings Incentive Travel, Conferences and Exhibitions) fair in Barcelona.

According to the SLCB, time is opportune for Sri Lanka to set the stage at IBTM not only to make presence of Sri Lanka felt as the latest venue for Incentive activities but also for Industry DMCs to establish contacts specially for Incentive travel that brings in high end visitors to destinations.

IBTM World (formerly EIBTM) has developed significantly since its move to Barcelona in 2004 and today attracts over 15,000 meetings professionals to the city each year. IBTM World thus is a leading global event for the meetings, incentives, conferences, events and business travel industry and has a successful 27 year history as the leading exhibition for the meetings industry.

‘Our target audience here is really the Incentive Houses in Europe while of course servicing and pursuing business leads for Conferences,’ said CEO of SLCB Vipula Wanigasekera stating further ‘ The first day was very fruitful with the number of meetings we had and the interest shown by the buyers for Sri Lanka for incentive travel and we want to exploit all opportunities at IBTM to raise our profile as a destination for Incentives while Industry members carry out their businesses’.
