IOSL and CIM organize workshop for marketers in shipping and logistics industry

​The ​Institute of Shipping & Logistics  (IOSL)​ is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year ​and ​a series of events/workshops ​ have been scheduled​ to showcase ​this milestone.​​

The first such event would be a half day workshop titled “How to be a successful marketer in the shipping and logistics industry “,​which would be ​held at the Hilton Colombo ​on​ 9th August commencing at 2.00 p.m.

​This workshop is organised in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Sri Lanka branch, will ​award their Certificate to all the participants.​ It is believe​d that this would be the first time a workshop for marketers in the shipping and logistics trade is being organized. 

The chief guest and keynote speaker ​will be​ Saliya Senanayake, Chairman, Lanka Shipping ​ & Logistics​ ( Pvt ) Ltd and Simatech Marine​ Group Past Chairman, CILT, Sri Lanka and former International Vice President of ​Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport​ (UK ).​The ​Guests of Honour ​at the event​ would Jagath Pathirane,CEO, Expo Freight Ltd ( EFL ) and Chairman, Sri Lanka Logistics & Freight Association ( SLFFA) and​ Swabha Wickr​amasinghe, Director Marketing, Worldlink Shipping Colombo (Pvt) Ltd and​ Chairperso​n, Womens International Shipping & Trading Association ​(WISTA) Sri Lanka Branch.​

​Resource persons and topics to be presented at the workshop on ‘How to be a successful marketer in the shipping and logistics industry’​are as follows.

1. ‘What you ​should know about the shipping and logistcs industry to be a successful marketer.’ Speaker Rajesh Fernando, Dip. in Shipping & Logistics, former General Manager ​(Marketing​)​ of a mjajor Japan​ese Shipping Line in Sri Lanka.​​​  

2. ‘The professional approach to maritime marketing and logistics.’ Speaker: Gihan Warusavitarne,​MCIT (Lond), MITA ​ (UK) Dip. in Shipping (Wales) former Marketing​/Sales Manager, American President Lines, Ceylon Shipping Corpn. And Maersk Line. ​Founder and CEO, Institute of Shipping & Logistics (IOSL)​   

3. ‘How to be a Winner in ​Shipping and Freight Forwarding’. Speaker:Dian Abeyawardena, Motivational Speaker, Management Trainer and Senior Toastmaster, former Managing Director of a leading f​reight forwarding​ company.    

 
4. ‘Modern marketing techniques needed to succeed in a service industry’. Speaker: Dilshan Perera, MBA(PIM-Sri. J), B.B.Mgt.(Marketing) Spe.(Hons.) (Kelaniya),Charted Marketer, Dip.M, MCIM(UK) MSLIM, MIM(SL). Marketing professional and senior visiting​ lecturer of CIM.
