The actual truth behind the incident of “white van” drama, as acted out by two men of the former Health Minister during a news briefing will be revealed in near future, Defence Secretary, Major General Kamal Gunaratne said.

Addressing a gathering in Pannipitiya yesterday, the Defence Secretary said they had launched a probe into the said incident soon after it was brought to the spotlight.

“We will reveal who was actually behind this drama and who hired and paid money for the duo. We can’t let incidents of this nature happen in the country, which hoodwinks and mislead the general public," Gunaratne said.

However, he stressed the point that they would not take suppressive measures to tame these kinds of people but carry out transparent investigations to bring the wrongdoers to book.

Former Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne held a news briefing on November 10 with two persons, where the two individuals said they had been engaged in abduction cases and witnessed such incidents.

Meanwhile, Defence Secretary Gunaratne said a new change is visible in the country after Gotabaya Rajapaksa took the office.

President Rajapaksa was unwavering despite the accusations, criticisms and defamation levelled at him in the run up to presidency. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

But tell us one thing, how can CID investigate something if their attempt to extract information from the Swiss employee was not in the right way and described as abduction by the victim? Appoint a completely different team to investigate. Otherways it will end up in victimize the victim and alienate the Swiss embassy and remember no Swiss authorities will authorize an illegal act..

in most countries accused never conduct an investigation to clear their names. What he wants to is that he wants to clear the accusation by the accused.
