Former Sri Lanka cricket captain Mahela Jayawardane today said that he will check with Thilanga Sumathipala before reacting to any comment in future.

“I am sorry next time we will check with him before reacting and wearing the hats since he has vast experience on the subject matter,” Mahela tweeted in response to a statement made by former Sri Lanka Cricket President Thilanga Sumathipala

Earlier Mr. Sumathipala said “I don’t know why some cricketers are worried over former sports minister Mahindanada Aluthgamage’s claims on match fixing; if they are not involved in it, why (do) they worry.”

A good one for the bookie man and the missing link in Darwin's theory of evolution.

Ruwan Putha Sunday, 21 June 2020 09:44 PM

A cheeky reaction from one of the prima donnas who thinks there are no other cricket talent in the country beside he and equally repugnant his buddy

    Joshua Sunday, 21 June 2020 09:48 PM

Ha haa...good answer to bookie owner. Will sumathipala keep quite if a member of his family is accused of something? Mahela queried as a member of the team. He has all the right. All goons of SLPP

Mahela this final match has now become a political game to get more and more spectators for the next match on Aug.05th. thats all.

    DillonDP Sunday, 21 June 2020 10:11 PM

Just war of words... Everything with sooth of nobody fixed any fixed match.. everyone should just calm down and focus on the election

Roshan Musa Sunday, 21 June 2020 10:28 PM

Mahela and Sanga you guys are truly legends and country's goodwill ambassadors worldwide. Shameless ex-minister and his jockey lanky got election circus wrong this time. You are worthy to us and they are curse to us.

Gerald Jesudasan Sunday, 21 June 2020 10:39 PM

Sumathipala - "Look who's talking"... Mahela/Sanga we are with you.

Haig Urum Sunday, 21 June 2020 10:40 PM

    Jude Sunday, 21 June 2020 11:04 PM

My dear Mahela, YEAH, DON'T respond to anyone !! Whether its a politician or anyone else!! Have your representative to respond ALL matters relating to YOU !! You Just DON'T respond !! Period!!! This is the BEST way to distance yourself from unwanted publicity !!

    Shansrihar Monday, 22 June 2020 12:00 AM

Our brand of Cricketers are gentlemen and they will think twice before tarnishing the image of our country. Now the minister needs some propaganda for his election campaign. Three weeks before he delivered a bomb shell for the Kuwaiti SriLankans. Now he is trying with Cricketers.

    Sammy Monday, 22 June 2020 12:04 AM

It is not about players being worried if they are not involved. If any member of the team is involved, it affects the whole team and senior players have the right to call for proper investigations when the Minister makes such allegations.

    MUNAS Monday, 22 June 2020 01:40 AM

WHAT A DISGRACE TO SRI-LANKAN POLITICIANS

Somasundaram Sellathurai Monday, 22 June 2020 04:13 AM

Mahela, you are a legend along with a lot of other greats of mother Lanka. We stand by you.

    Thalif Monday, 22 June 2020 04:25 AM

Please do not jump in to conclusions yet. None of us believed players like Azarudeen, Hansi Cronje would have been involved in match fixing in their loving game, until it was proved during the formal inquiry.

Patrick jansz Monday, 22 June 2020 10:01 PM

Mahala and Kumar you both made a mistake the first thing you should have done when these match fixing came out you should have shut your mouths don't say anything silence is golden rule do not get on involved at this time if you are innocent but we never know how this will turn out?????

    Dot Monday, 22 June 2020 05:11 AM

I just cannot understand the remark of Thilanga Sumathipala ..when a minister makes flippant accusations its the team leaders who react on behalf of the team to clear the name. ..for cricket indeed is a team game .Mahela and Sanga are most unlike other leaders who shrug their shoulders when questioned on the leaders role ...

Rex Jarkie Monday, 22 June 2020 05:48 AM

MAHINDA THIS IS YOUR LAST INNINGS OF YOU LIFE BUTBUT YOU WIL GET CLEAN BOWLED sad sad

    Pratheep Monday, 22 June 2020 05:57 AM

These politicians are the people who ruined our Cricket. Shameless people to contest again and again under different umbrellas everytime. And barking like white handed. Mahela and Sanga are the most liked cricketers beyond any boarders.

    Sid Monday, 22 June 2020 06:07 AM

Why don't they get some of the players who participated now participate in a lie detector test and clear the air

    Don Monday, 22 June 2020 08:01 AM

This message is for Mr. Gotabaya Rajapakse. We need you to govern this country. The goons like Sumathipala, Mahindananda, Karuna you can not go on this journey. These guys are loose cannons and idiots. Please ask them to shut their filthy mouths and let SLPP to win the majority and you to have correct people to govern this country. This is the last chance we have. Please act on this immediately.

Ranabhahu Wijemanna Monday, 22 June 2020 08:09 AM

I do no understand why they are making a big fuzz over 2011 world cup. Ok we could have won that match . Last world cup could have been won by New Zealand. So what happened. In a game sport there are winners and losers. Some teams may have better mental strength and capability to win but they could still loose if there was no luck on that day. So stop wasting time. This guy Mahindagamege is a politician who does not have a good track record of making decent statements. Ignore these stupid guys. Mahela and Sanga, when you lost the match in 2011 I was angry at both of you. But understand and accepted the loss. After you 2 guys, there has not been any noticeable player for Sri Lanka who are now in the bottom of all rankings.

    Era Monday, 22 June 2020 08:32 AM

People need to give a fitting reply to Sumathipala and Mahindananda at the elections. The whole country is with Mahela, Sanga, Malinga, Murali at el.

Prakash Rajan Monday, 22 June 2020 08:39 AM

Has the bookie got even the gentleman par excellence ?? Even Sanga made a famous speech in Lords about corruptions at SLC!!

    FF Monday, 22 June 2020 09:18 AM

IN THE FIRST PLACE WHY DID THE FORMER SPORTS MINISTER MAKE THE COMMENT WHEN PLAYERS ARE NOT INVOLVED. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT NO ONE FIX A MATCH WITHOUT THE PARTICIPATION PLAYERS. LIKE A JOCKEY IS INVOLVED IN HORSE RACING. ITS NOT NECESSARY TO APOLOGISE TO POLITICIANS

Ronnie Bugger Monday, 22 June 2020 09:31 AM

Is Mahela simply cracking a sarcastic joke or is he serious to say this to a racing 'bookie'.

    Roshanaly Monday, 22 June 2020 10:07 AM

Mahela surrendered, will see what the response from Sanga on the other matters.

    Ravi Monday, 22 June 2020 10:52 AM

Anyway we should not get exited for what Bookie man says because we know his low quality family background and his class.

    Nimal Monday, 22 June 2020 10:57 AM

Politicians like to get clean cricketers pulled into their muddy pools.

dickie bird Monday, 22 June 2020 09:05 PM

Thalif..... food for thought. DON.... Y drag Gota. He is powerless with a diluted 19A. Deal him a good hand on the 05th and then make the request. Then, Gota will be able to send them to the threshold

    M. O Daya Tuesday, 23 June 2020 05:33 PM

It’s sad that and the Prime Minister Maninda
