Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday that it was not possible to eradicate cocaine when some politicians were addicted it.
Mr. Rajapaksa said this at Carlton House in Tangalle when journalists asked about reports of politicians being addicted to cocaine.
“If there are politicians using cocaine, their names should be revealed. You can’t simply point fingers at all MPs. How can anyone eradicate cocaine when politicians are using it,” he asked.
Mr. Rajapaksa said some of what was happening today were similar to what happened in 1989-1990. “Back then there were abductions like today. The government should be held responsible for these incidents,” he said and added that they were ready for any election.
“The provincial council elections should be held immediately. If not, a general election should be held. We are even ready for a presidential election,” Mr. Rajapaksa said. (Anisha Manage)

As long as there is demand, there is supply!!!! simple economics!!! Eradicate the demand!!!! bring in programs to educate to school systems, have other measures to curb the usage..... the supply will reduce and eventually stop.... maybe long term but it will happen.... If we catch one madush today, tomorrow another madush or all other shushas will be formed!!!

Both MR and Gotabaya should responsible for drugs. Hirunika Premachandra's father murdered by whom? Who protected him and kept him high security at Sri Jayawardene Hospital and sent to Singapore. Then brought here and kept him secretly at Nawaloka with police guard without mentioning patient name in the board. Then Negombo helicopter case by MR to protect N.mal L..sa at Negambo. Shamed. Why Prez Sorisena is silent on this?

Dear Sir, Please deploy a special team for parliament sittings to catch Members as they get out of balance and go berserk, run riot, go mad and turn into animal mode and get them checked of their abnormalities. A lot of video clips are still available via google. Suggest a new research unit posted in parliament and study new research about their behavior. Its time this be done as it has also spread to other councils and could spread to other places too.
