*    The All Share Price Index gained 21.7 points to close at 7,014.4 points (+0.3%), whilst the Milanka Price Index also gained 12.1 points to close at 7,326.8 points (+0.2%).

*    The total turnover was LKR5,667.6 mn (USD51,082.5 k) vs. 12-month average daily turnover of LKR2,466.6 mn (USD22,231.6 k) whilst the volume traded for the day was 299,061 k against the 12-month average daily volume of 81,273 k.

*    Top traded counters were Laugfs Gas LKR877.0 mn (USD7,904.5 k,+10.4%), Distilleries LKR381.6 mn (USD3,439.4 k , -0.4%), Laugfs Gas (Non Voting) LKR271.4 mn (USD2,446.2 k, -1.6%), Ceylinco Insurance (Non Voting) LKR201.6 mn (USD1,817.0 k, +10.0%) and Odel LKR193.4 mn (USD1,743.1 k,
+3.9%)

Colombo bourse generated healthy turnover levels with indices closing in the green. Laugfs Gas (Voting and Non Voting) continued to attract strong investor interest but lost some ground during the latter part
of the day due to selling pressure. Distilleries saw a near 2.1 mn shares changing hands during the day backed by institutions. Ceylinco Insurance (Non Voting) saw a stake of 8.9% changing hands also backed by institutional interest. All classes of investors were seen active in Odel. Further Singer
Finance would be listing 106.7 mn shares on the main board on 17th January 2011.

A net outflow of foreign funds were seen during the day, where foreign purchases amounted to LKR444.5 mn (USD4,006.3 k), whilst foreign sales amounted to LKR955.8 mn (USD8,614.7 k).

Market capitalization is at LKR2,340.6 bn. YTD market performance is up 5.7%.
