Unbeaten, Maliban Biscuit Manufactories (Pvt) Ltd., - the 2017 “G” division winner and 2018 “F” division losing Semi-Finalist, go out favourites when they meet unbeaten, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC in the MCA “E” division 25 over League Tournament 2019 Final on Saturday, May 25 at MCA Grounds, commencing 10.00 am.
The Final which was earlier scheduled to be played on April 27 was postponed to May 04 and was put on hold for security reasons.
The tournament for the 17th successive year is powered by David Pieris Group of Companies, played for the “DPGC” Challenge Trophy.
Maliban’s path to the Final – In the “League” stage they beat, AIA Insurance by 09 wickets, Melwire Rolling by 154 runs, SL Telecom by 73 runs, Eagle Logistics by 118 runs and MAS Active by 09 wickets, in the elimination stage they beat – Commercial Bank “B” by 92 runs (pre quarter finals), beat Emerchemie NB by 62 runs (quarter finals) and beat Brandix Essentials by 105 runs (Semi Finals).
The top performers for Maliban were:
M.M. Silmi (06 innings/389 runs/02 not outs, 02 centuries and 02 half centuries), Thenuja Akalanka (07 innings/267 runs /01 century and 01 half century) and Lahiru Dushantha (07 matches/192 balls/177 runs/19 wickets).
Nawaloka Hospitals path to the final:
In the “league” stage they scored wins over, Ceylon Tobacco by 126 runs, Ansell Lanka by 09 wickets, Group “M” Media by 286 runs, Trelleborg Lanka by 197 runs and DPMC “B” by 55 runs, In the elimination stage they beat – Virtusa by 05 wickets (Pre quarter finals), beat Akbar Bros by 25 runs (quarter finals) and beat Sri Lanka Telecom by 23 runs (Semi Finals).
Nawaloka ‘s top performers were :
Samith Ruberu (07 innings/400 runs/02 centuries and 01 half century) , Tharinda Suraj (07 innings/287 runs/01 not out/03 half Centuries) and Thivanka Kakulawela (07 matches/191 balls/142 runs /20 wkts)
Sri Lanka Army’s Thusitha Karunaratne will be the Match Referee cum adjudicator.
