Four more records tumbled on the second day of the 89th Sir John Tarbat Senior Athletics Meet which continued at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo yesterday (11).

Sanduni Lakshani of A. Ratnayake MV, Walala eclipsed her teammate K. G. D. M. S. Kumarasinghe’s record of 1.06.67 seconds which was established on the previous day of the meet, with a new timing of 1.05.91 seconds in the Under-16 Girls’ 400 metres event.

The other meet records were established by D. M. T. D. Karunaratne of A. Ratnayake MV Walala (U-16 Girls’ 800m), Shanika Lakshani of Holy Cross, Gampaha (U-18 Girls’ 800m), Shashika Dilshani of Makadura Central (U-20 Girls’ 5,000m) and Nisali Savindi of Sri Sumangala BV (U-16 Girls’ discuss throw).

Day-2 records:

  • Under-16 Girls’ 800m: D. M. T. D. Karunaratne (A. Ratnayake MV, Walala) - 2.17.43s.
  • Under-16 Girls’ 400m: Sanduni Lakshani (A. Ratnayake MV, Walala) - 1.05.91s.
  • Under-18 Girls’ 800m: Shanika Lakshani (Holy Cross, Gampaha) - 2.13.26s.
  • Under-16 Girls’ discuss throw: Nisali Savindi (Sri Sumangala BV).
  • Under-20 Girls’ 5,000m: Shashika Dilshani (Makadura Central) - 27.18.46s.
