Had the world not come to a standstill due to COVID-19 Sri Lankan all rounder Dasun Shanaka would have had his wedding yesterday.
“Yes, because of the Coronavirus it has been indefinitely postponed. The decision was taken a few days ago. The new date will be decided later”, a source close to the team management said.
“Shanaka and other team members of the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) have begun online training and the club captain has made a special video clip in Sinhala to guide and discuss the team preparations with his colleagues”, a senior member of the club said.
Shanaka, however, is not the only international cricketer to be in this tricky situation.
South Africa’s slow left arm orthodox bowler Keshav Maharaj was due to the tie knot with his fiancee Lerisha earlier this month but they had to postpone their big day with the ban on social gatherings still in place in South Africa.
