Savini Jayasuriya emerged the Under 18 girls’ champion of the Sri Lanka Clay Court Tennis nationals when she recorded a comfortable two sets to nil win over Alana Seneviratne in the final played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.
Savini, a student of Bishops College, who won the Under 16 title and was the losing finalist in both the Under 18 and Women’s Open last year had little difficulty in brushing off the challenge of Seneviratne with identical scores of 6/4, 6/4 in the three-set encounter.
Earlier, Savini got the better of Tania Doloswala in the second semi-final with an easy 6/2, 6/4 victory to book the berth to the final. -MSA
