The Headquarters of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has moved out of Sri Lanka, it is learnt.
According to the sources, the ACC is now located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Incidentally, the news of moving the ACC office shifting from Colombo has not been made public via a media release.
Since the formation of the ACC on September 19 in 1983, it has seen several ‘houses’ so far. Up to 2003, the ACC Headquarter was shifted every two years with the biennial rotation of the President’s and Secretary’s home country.
Since then it was in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Singapore, UAE before shifting it to Sri Lanka during Thilanga Sumathipala’s tenure, where it was located next to the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) office.
“The ACC has moved out of Sri Lanka for few reasons”, the source explained.
“First to save tax benefits and second to have better co-ordination with the ICC.”
The two senior officials - Thusith Perera (Sri Lanka) and Sultan Rana (Pakistan) continue to run the office in the UAE.
