The Colombo Tea Auction changed its 137-year-old traditional public outcry auction system to a digital auction system.
At the first ever e-Auction held on 07/08 April 2020 an all-time record price of Rs.2,050/- was recorded for a Low Grown BOP1 grade manufactured by SUNRISE TEA FACTORY.
This tea was sold by M/s BARTLEET PRODUCE MARKETING (PVT) LTD, and was purchased by M/s VINTAGE TEAS CEYLON (PVT) LTD.
Sunrise Tea Factory is situated in Matara District and renowned as one of the most prestigious tea manufacturers in Sri Lanka. It was established in 2002 which is at nearly 18 years of excellence in producing finest teas which are being distributed both globally and island wide. It is governed by a Board of five Directors headed by the Managing Director Mr. H.L. Siritilaka. The board has managed to uplift this factory to its current outstanding position through their hard work and dedication. The factory has shown continues growth from the beginning and ensuring that all its stakeholders are benefited through their success.
