Ethical Extracts (EE) recently received its CarbonNeutral® Manufacturer certification from Natural Capital Partners in the UK via their local representatives, The Sustainable Future Group (SFG). Ethical Extracts is one of the world’s first tea extraction companies to be certified a CarbonNeutral® Manufacturer. The company also received the WaterConscious® certification for its endeavors in minimizing water waste, and is actively working toward bringing its overall company waste levels to a minimum.
The CarbonNeutral® certificate was presented by Dr Lakmini Senadheera - Head of Sustainability Assurance and Advisory Services (The Sustainable Future Group) to Dinike Jayamaha – Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Ethical Extracts. Key Ethical Extracts team members Praveen Dias – Chief Operating Officer, Vishakha Leelarathne – Senior Process Engineer and Kavinga Withana – Senior Executive Quality and Sustainability, were present along with members of the Carbon Consulting Company who work with SFG, Shermila Weragoda - Assistant Manager -Water and Forestry Management and Ruwanthi Halwala - Assistant Manager - Client Relationship Management.
Ethical Extracts is a BOI company that produces tea and coffee aroma and concentrates for the global market. Ethical Extracts is a joint venture between MANE SA (www.mane.com), the 5th largest Flavor and Fragrance player in the world, and Akbar Brothers (www.akbar.com), Sri Lanka’s largest tea exporter.
Commenting on the certification, Dinike Jayamaha – Founder & Chief Executive Officer (EE) said: "This milestone is a culmination of each team member's commitment toward our Ethically Green pillar, and this is only the beginning in bringing in green leadership to the industry".
