SHRM Launches first of its kind HR Certification Program in Sri Lanka

SHRM, Society for Human Resource Management, the world’s largest association devoted to Human Resource Management, along with Association of Human Resource Professionals (HRP), Sri Lanka today announced the launch of the SHRM Certification program. This HR certification program would be a first of its kind, in Sri Lanka. The launch was attended by Ms. Achal Khanna, CEO, SHRM India, Ms. L. Chiranthi Cooray, President, HRP and a host of other senior HR leaders. The two new certifications, SHRM – Certified Professional (SHRM – CP) & SHRM – Senior Certified Professional (SHRM – SCP), will set new standards for HR professionals, and help them grow in their careers.


 In a rapidly changing environment, HR professionals are becoming more prone to varied challenges in their workplace, than ever before. To deal with these challenges effectively, they need to be competent and well versed in the required skills and constantly upgrade their knowledge. Keeping the above in mind, SHRM has created a certification that is clearly focused on the competencies and knowledge, all HR professionals need, to lead in today’s business community.

During the launch, Ms. Achal Khanna, CEO, SHRM India, said, “We are delighted to partner with HRP in launching this first of its kind certification program in Sri Lanka. Through this we aspire to provide working professionals, a comprehensive understanding of Human Resource Management. This flagship course would certainly help HR professionals in Sri Lanka to evolve in their respective domains and become a valuable asset to their organization. We are also optimistic about further strengthening our relationship with HRP as we work together to develop HR professionals across the country.” 

Ms. L. Chiranthi Cooray, President, Association of Human Resource Professionals, said, “HRP is proud to launch a much respected International Human Resource qualification in Sri Lanka, the SHRM Global HR Certification. Having identified the much felt vacuum of an internationally accredited professional qualification in human resources, HRP leveraged the synergistic partnership with SHRM to bring in a global accreditation to further enhance the professional stature and international mobility of HR professionals in Sri Lanka. This launch will provide HR professionals in Sri Lanka a unique opportunity to avail this certification and set a new benchmark for excellence in HR.”
