Nominations are now open for e-Swabhimani 2010 a national award aimed at recognizing excellence in digital content creation. The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) invites nominations from individuals and organizations that have developed creative content and practices in making the benefits of ICT accrue to the people. The nominations will close on August 15th.
A key benefit of the e-Swabhimani Award, an initiative of the e-Society Programme of ICTA is that it will give local, regional and international recognition to home grown products and applications. All shortlisted nominations will be submitted to the Manthan Award South Asia and other regional awards. Most importantly it will constitute the national pre-selection for the World Summit Awards a highly prestigious international award. e-Swabhimani will open up opportunities for networking and creating business alliances and collaborations. It will be a platform for benchmarking products and services. It will also provide exposure to investment opportunities and investors.
The e-Swabhimani winners will receive the e-Swabhimani trophy, publicity in the national media, exclusive rights for using the award logo on personal stationery and products. Their products will also be showcased at all local and regional events, promoted offline and online and featured in the e-Swabhimani booklet.
The 11 categories under which the e-Swabhimani award is offered are: (1) e-Business and Commerce, (2) e-Culture and Entertainment, (3) e-Learning and Education, (4) e-Enterprise and Livelihood, (5) e-Science and Environment, (6) e-Governance, (7) e-Health, (8) e-Inclusion, (9) e-Localisation, (10) e-News and (11) M-Content. The creations submitted for e-Swabhimani 2010 will be judged by a jury comprising local and international experts. Last year, at the first e-Swabhimani Award 28 Sri Lankan developers received awards out of 200 submissions which were reviewed.
Intel, Sri Lanka has come forward as the principal partner for e- Swabhimani 2010 while Digital Empowerment foundation, India contribute as knowledge partner, providing all technical consultation to maintain international jury standards.
