Sri Lanka hosts first int’l fire and industrial safety exhibition

With the participation of about 24 local and foreign companies, NEFSEC, Sri Lanka’s first international fire, industrial safety and homeland security exhibition was held in Colombo recently.
The chief guest of the event was Secretary to Ministry of Law and Order, Jagath Wijeweera and the Guest of Honour was Ministry of Defence Additional Secretary N.G. Panditharathne. It was organised by Nexgen Exhibitions (Pvt.) Ltd., a leading exhibition and conference organizer in Asia.
The exhibition showcased many products of different sectors such as fire, rescue, police, homeland security, surveillance disaster and emergency response.
It sets a platform for businesses to introduce their latest equipment, technology and products for home and public security, and it was a good opportunity for local businesses as well to find the right partner in order to meet their needs.
University of Moratuwa too was present at the event, where they showcased drones designed by them that can be used in disaster situations and for other purposes. 
They said that they are looking forward to add more features to it and introduced it to the market soon.
A Chinese elevator company who was exhibiting their products at the event said that they are hoping to find partners in Sri Lanka as they see a boom in Sri Lanka’s construction industry. A UAE-based fire pumps system company too said that as they see a number of high-rise buildings, hotels being built in Sri Lanka, they are looking forward to promote their products here.
Another interesting product showcased by an Indian company was movable houses built with durable material, that can be used in a disaster situation.
Satellites, electronic defence equipment, police, military, and internal security technology were among the other products that were featured at the event.
The two-day event took place at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC).
