Auto Trades Kandy (Pvt.) Ltd, one of the pioneers in the vehicle spare parts business for over more than 64 years, organized a special event to appreciate its customers at Royal Kandy Hotel in Kandy recently.
The specialty of the event was the participation of all customers from mechanics engaged in vehicle repairing to large-scale vehicle service providers and garage owners. These customers, who are contributing immensely to the betterment of the industry in a silent manner, had never been appreciated before.
Ruhunu Motors Director Bandu Kodithuwakka and Taaz Agencies (Pvt.) Ltd Director Tissa Gunawardane attended the ceremony as the chief guests. The two companies are also the sponsors of the event.
Apart from them, three managers from the leading spare parts producers in Japan, Aisin and Kayaba, also attended the ceremony.
Mechanics from Mahiyangana, Hanguranketha, Dambulla, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Kurunegala, Kegalle and other rural areas were recognized at the event.
Auto Trades Kandy (Pvt.) Ltd was founded by late H. Dharmasena in 1952 as ‘Auto House’. Apart from spare parts business, Auto Trades Kandy (Pvt.) Ltd eventually entered into tyre business and then expanded its service to the tea sector by providing equipment and necessary spare parts to the tea industry.
The company also entered into the lubricant business with the collaboration of the international Shell Company.
However, the company was taken over by the government in 1972 and reformed in 1977 as Auto Trades Kandy (Pvt.) Ltd.
Today, the company is headed by Chairman Ira Dharmasena, Managing Director Melee Dharmasena and Director Gandhi Dharmasena.
