Legend connects Onam to the return to earth of King Mahabali, the pious and benevolent ruler of ancient Kerala, who was banished to the netherworld by God Vishnu. The people of Kerala celebrate annually to receive this King, whose rule was known for Justice and Equality.
The Kerala Samajam of Sri Lanka and the Kerala Vanitha Samajam are organisations formed by people of Kerala origin in Sri Lanka and have been in existence from 1959. Both organisations are involved in Social, Cultural and Educational activities in Sri Lanka. Tickets will available at the venue entrance.
