India’s clear message to TNA, Diaspora and Pillay

The Foreign Secretary of India in a recent interview with CNN, made India’s independent stand and pragmatic approach towards much talked about International Inquiry on war crimes to be carried out in Sri Lanka, crystal clear to the world, particularly TNA, Tamil Diaspora representing rump LTTE, UNHRC, complicitous global bullies like USA, UK, EU and its cohorts and head of UNHRC Navi Pillay, whose partisan approach, selective treatment, blatantly disproportionate efforts and relentless quest to put Sri Lanka on the dock have called in to question the authenticity and sincerity of the intentions of the Global Body.

India in no uncertain terms has conveyed to the world that Sri Lanka’s case is essentially an internal affair, which should be addressed by a homegrown mechanism and pointed out that the planned investigation is an obvious violation of the sovereignty and independence of Sri Lanka and amounts to overstepping of the mandate of the global body. It is clearly in transgression of accepted norms of international relations and diplomacy conducted based on the noble principle of laissez-faireism.
India’s unbiased and apolitical policy stand especially in the context of a general election in progress is commendable. India’s stand makes very clear to the world that it does not condone the actions of TNA and Diaspora that keep maneuvering the forces inimical to the interests of Sri Lanka to unduly impose an unwarranted international inquiry; as such a process does not offer any potential to bring about desired ethnic harmony or interracial reconciliation. It would at best make matters worse or further complicated for all ethnicities.

If TNA is genuinely keen on reconciliation, the best way is to fall in line with the thinking of India. Pillay’s vicious moves to unjustifiably bring Sri Lanka to book and global censure is seeing the light of day. It’s a move made by the global wolf in sheep’s clothing.

TNA could play a constructive role for reconciliation by dissociating itself from the sinister move whilst teaming with India to constructively engage GOSL to set about the task of achieving true reconciliation and devolution, based on a formula which would address domestic concerns and ground realities. It should work on a road map. The journey would certainly be arduous. But, TNA should understand that Rome was not built in a day.

If TNA thinks that the malicious campaign masterminded by international bullies could fast-track the accomplishment of its long-held dream, it is wishful thinking.
