A group of three poachers fishing with prohibited fishing gear in Maduru Oya reservoir were fined Rs. 35,000 each by Dehiattakandiya Magistrate Wasana Navaratne when they pleaded guilty. The suspects Herath Mudiyanselage Tilakaratne, Disanayake Mudiyanselage Abeykoon Banda, and Uruwarigelage Leelaratne, all of Dambana had been arrested and produced in court by the Wildlife Conservators.
Range Wildlife Conservator Maduru Oya National Park W.W.G.Weerasena produced the suspects in court and filed plaint.
