A pandemonium prevailed in parliament yesterday (23) morning, following a serpent was found in a drawer under the table of the opposition MPs’ parlour.
According to parliament sources, the serpent was found during a search by a team STF personnel prior to the commencement of parliament proceeding. It is said the serpent was hiding under a drawer of a discarded table and was later drove away to Diyawanna Oya.
Sergeant at Arms Narendra Fernando said there was no harm to anyone by the serpent.
On several previous occasions, poisonous creatures such as cobras and vipers were also found in the Parliament premises.
