K.G. Indika Sanjaya has been appointed Honourary Director of the Department of Wild life Conservation, Southern Range.
An offroad vehicle enthusiast, Indika’s father and grandfather have served the DWLC in years gone by.His father was the late Ranger K.G.David who was renowned in Yala in its halcyon days of the sixties. Born in Kataragama, the 6’ 2” strapper spent his formative years in and around Ruhunu National Park.
There, he gained intimate knowledge of its fauna and flora, especially through his father. Despite moving to Colombo to marry and start up on his childhood hobby; four wheel drives, the irresistible call of the wild still beckons him to leave the city and lose himself in the jungles often.
He has many plans to inject into the ailing DWLC. The State machinery will hopefully give Indika its maximum support to implement his plans and secure for our treasured Wild Life a place in the sun they so richly deserve.
